US Army Commendation Medal in Case . YMU6055

United States Army Commendation Medal (Military Merit) in Clear Plastic Case. Crimped Brooch. Also has ribbon bar and enamel lapel device. This one has the Vietnam era clear plastic case. Note: the clear plastic cases tend to crack and chip very easily, this one appears to be in decent condition. Also, a lot of times these will click a bit when opening and closing, this is found often on the clear plastic cases, once in a while you will find one that opens smoothly. Most likely 1950s-1960s era. Worn condition.

Additional Notes: The Army Commendation Medal is awarded to any member of the Armed Forces of the U.S. other than General Officers who, while serving in any capacity with the U.S. Army after December of 1941, distinguished themselves by heroism, meritorious achievement or meritorious service.

Clear plastic cases/boxes were used in the 1950’s and 60’s (typically you see Vietnam era medals in these cases). The clear plastic cases were followed up by the blue grained texture cases/boxes with the metal rims which were utilized in the 1970’s follow up by blue smooth texture covered cases with metal rims.
