US 8th AAF Bullion Patch WW2 . USP1002

United States 8th Army Air Force (AAF) bullion shoulder sleeve insignia (patch). Nice bullion work with a great look to this patch. Worn condition.

Additional Notes: The United States 8th Army Air Force, often called the “Mighty Eighth”, was one of the most powerful and influential air forces during WW2. Activated in January of 1942 with primary theater was the European Theater of Operations. Their primary mission was strategic bombing of WW2 Germany and air superiority over Europe. The aircraft used included the B-17 Flying Fortress, B-24 Liberator, P-47 Thunderbolt, and P-51 Mustang. Conducted daylight precision bombing of industrial and military targets in Germany, France, and the Low Countries. Played a key role in the Combined Bomber Offensive, working alongside the RAF’s nighttime bombing campaigns.
