United States WW2 5th Army Air Force (AAF) shoulder sleeve insignia (patch). Australian made patch variation. Embroidered on dark blue wool with cotton gauze type backing material. Worn condition. 1940s (WW2) era. The patch does not react to UV light (does not glow under blacklight).
Additional Notes: The US 5th AAF (Army Air Force) was a unit of the US Army Air Forces that operated in the Pacific Theater of WW2. It was established in Australia in September of 1942, under the command of Major General George Kenney.
