The helmet heat stamp on interior appears to be: 282A S. The helmet liner is marked with the Westinghouse logo on the interior and numbers D25. Liner sweatband is very heavily worn condition, also still has liner chinstrap as well. Worn condition with a nice shade of grey.

Additional Notes: The United States M1 helmet is a combat helmet that was used by the United States Armed Forces from 1941 to 1985. Designed to replace the M1917 helmet, a variant of the British Brodie helmet used during WW1, the M1 helmet is known for having been used as the primary American combat headgear during WW2, with similarly extensive use in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Owing to its extensive use throughout WW2 and the Cold War, the M1 helmet has become an icon of the U.S. military, with its design inspiring copies and derivative designs used by other militaries around the world.

There was no standard for painting helmets in the Navy during WW2. M-1 helmet that left the factory did so typically painted green. It was up to the individual commands to paint the helmets with what paint they had available. Navy helmets can be found painted in different colors varying in shades of grey, shades of light blue, dark blue, and even white, and can be found with letters, numbers, symbols or writing typically on the front of the helmet. This practice still exists today in the Navy with different divisions onboard ships use different colors and shades of grey, blue, and a mixture of blue-grey.
