United States Homefront Blue Star Son-in-Service Ring. This one has 1 blue star for 1 son in service. Marked on back of ring: W.L.S. Co, Sterling, Patent Applied For. Appears to be about a size 7 1/2 (I believe men’s size, which would translate to about a size 6 women’s). Worn condition.
Additional Notes: The homefront Blue Star typically seen starting about ww1 era and continuing on in ww2 on Banners, Pins, or Rings can have one star or up to five and each blue star represents a loved one serving in the military during time of war. The homefront gold star was approved by President Woodrow Wilson in 1918 at the urging of mothers who had a family member killed in war and was typically displayed above any blue stars.
