United States M1942 Army First Aid Field Pouch. Also has metal Carlisle bandage tin. The back of the pouch is marker marked and dated on back, however, difficult to clearly make out. Hook back attachment system. Most likely 1940s (ww2) era. Very heavily worn condition.

 

Additional Notes: The First Aid Field Pouch was utilized from WW2 thru Vietnam era for carrying first aid field bandages. The Model 1942 (M1942) First Aid Pouch was designed to carry a basic field dressing sealed in a brass tin or Carlisle tin. It is typically made of a khaki or green cotton canvas and marked U.S. on the front and has a front Lift-the-Dot fastener with a rear hook clip for attaching to the web combat belt.
