West German Heckler and Koch G3 Bayonet. Very heavily worn condition early plastic-polymer wood-grained scabbard with damage near tip of scabbard. Overall, worn condition bayonet.

Additional Notes: The early-production German G3 bayonet and scabbard made by Heckler & Koch. These were introduced in 1959 and adopted by the German Bundeswehr. This G3 bayonet is complete with the original scabbard. These bayonets used a blade patterned after the WW2 U.S. M1 Carbine design and featured a 12-groove black plastic handle with the release located at the 9 o’clock position when viewed from the rear. The metal parts are Parkerized on these from the factory including the blade, and they were all un-marked. The early production examples came with a unique scabbard which appears to be wood, however, is actually wood-grained plastic-polymer.
