WW2 German Army Short Dress Bayonet Tiger Solingen . BAYO662

$120.00

WW2 German Army short dress bayonet. Marker marked on the blade ricasso with the Tiger logo for Tiger Solingen on one side and the Tiger Solingen mark on the other side. Nice clean blade, good fittings and grip. Decent condition scabbard. Portions of the red felt buffer pad still in bayonet slot. Blade length approximately 7 3/4 inches. Worn condition.

Additional Notes: The WW2 German Army Short Dress Bayonet was a ceremonial version of the standard K98 bayonet, designed for parade and dress occasions rather than combat. These bayonets were often nickel-plated, featuring stag or bakelite grip plates and a black-painted scabbard. Unlike functional bayonets, they lacked a sharpened edge and were primarily ornamental. Collectors often seek maker-marked examples from Solingen manufacturers like E. Pack & Söhne, Alcoso, and Robert Klaas. Some versions included etched blades with unit insignia or personalized engravings. The troddel (sword knot) attached to the hilt indicated the rank or branch of the wearer.
