United States Marine Corps (USMC) China Service Medal. No pin on ribbon. The China Service Medal was issued to recognize service in and around China before and after WW2. Worn condition.
Additional Notes: The USMC China Service Medal is awarded to personnel of the US Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard who served on shore in China or were attached to vessels supporting operations in China. The medal was established to honor the service of personnel in support of the China Aid program during the Second Sino-Japanese War. The medal’s eligibility period includes service from July of 1937 to September of 1939, and subsequent service from September of 1945 to April of 1957. The medal is bronze and features the image of a Chinese junk asail within a stylized inscription reading “CHINA SERVICE.” The reverse side includes an eagle atop an anchor and grasping laurel sprigs with inscriptions indicating the applicable branch of service and the medal’s purpose. The ribbon is yellow with a thin vertical red stripe on each edge.
