French Resistance Medal (Médaille de la Résistance) WW2. Worn condition.
Additional Notes: The French Resistance Medal (Médaille de la Résistance) was established on February 9, 1943, to honor individuals who demonstrated exceptional courage and commitment to the French Resistance during WW2. The medal was created by General Charles de Gaulle to recognize the remarkable acts of faith and bravery that contributed to the resistance against the German occupation of France. It was awarded to both members of the Free French forces and participants in the clandestine Resistance movement within France. The Resistance Medal is a circular bronze medal featuring a vertical Cross of Lorraine on the obverse, with the date of General de Gaulle’s appeal (June 18, 1940) inscribed in Roman numerals. The reverse bears the Latin inscription “PATRIA NON IMMEMOR,” which translates to “The Nation Does Not Forget.” The medal is suspended from a black silk moiré ribbon adorned with six vertical red stripes.
