US Army M1942 Paratrooper Jump Jacket . UA3017cxa

$2,400.00

United States Army Airborne M1942 Paratrooper Jump Jacket. The jacket consists of four front pockets with two button snaps (blacken brass) on each. Also, there is a dual-zippered knife pocket located on the upper front center portion of the jacket which was designed to contain a switchblade pocketknife, used to cut the parachute rigging if entangled. The zippers on the knife pocket are both Kwik marked. The jacket main zipper is marked Talon and the zipper works fine. The jacket is missing the cloth belt. The contract tag located on the inside of the lower pocket is totally washed out where you cannot make out the contract dates or size information. The interior jacket has a very faded military laundry mark near the back upper neck area, appears to be “D-5270”. Worn condition with some staining.

Additional Notes: The United States M1942 Paratrooper Jump Jacket was the signature combat garment worn by U.S. Army Airborne forces during the early years of WW2, including the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, and Normandy. Designed specifically for airborne operations, the M1942 jacket combined lightweight construction with expanded cargo capacity to carry extra ammunition and equipment during combat jumps. The M1942 uniform was issued exclusively to paratroopers and glider troops and is strongly associated with iconic operations such as Operation Husky, Operation Avalanche, and D‑Day. Due to heavy field wear and limited production, original examples are increasingly scarce and highly sought after by collectors.
