Japanese Rising Sun Medal in Case 6th Class . NNJ472

$100.00

Japanese Order of the Rising Sun 6th Class in black lacquered wood case. Enamel chipping to green enamel section and top white enamel ray. Also, this one is in the earlier pattern case with the roundish/curved seal script style typically seen on 1875 to late 1930s cases. I believe this one is from approximately 1890s-1940s era. Worn condition with chipping to enamel.

Additional Notes: The Order of the Rising Sun (issued from approximately 1875 – 2003), established by Emperor Meiji, was awarded to those who have made distinguished achievements in international relations, promotion of Japanese culture, advancements in their field, development in welfare or preservation of the environment. Basically, awarded for long and/or especially meritorious civil or military service.
