Imperial German Prussian Army Officer 25 yr Service Cross. No ribbon. Worn condition.
Additional Notes: The Prussian Army Officer’s 25-Year Long Service Cross was a prestigious military medal awarded to officers for their exemplary and loyal service within the armed forces. Instituted by King Friedrich Wilhelm III on the 10th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo, the cross recognized 25 years of service. The decoration was initially awarded only to officers, but in 1915, the statutes were extended to include senior non-commissioned officers, as well as military officials. The recipient’s service during wartime counted for double the service time. The cross was composed of gilded war material or zinc and was awarded until the start of the First World War. The cross features a gilt bronze design with a central crowned monogram of Friedrich Wilhelm III and the Roman numerals “XXV” on the reverse, indicating 25 years of service.
