Imperial German Prussian “Krieger” Combat Cross 1866. Worn condition.
Additional Notes: The Prussian “Krieger” Combat Cross 1866, also known as the “Treuen Kriegern” Cross, was instituted by King Wilhelm I in September of 1866 following the victorious war against Austria and its German allies. This cross was awarded to those who participated in the battle of Königgrätz, the Army of the Main, and ‘Trueue Kriegern’ (loyal soldiers) who were not present at Königgrätz or part of the Army of the Main. There were four versions of the cross, each with its own specific criteria for eligibility.
