United States Army M1917A1 Combat Helmet. “Kelly” helmet. No chinstrap. Liner in good condition. Helmet rim stamped 6A (Indicating this is a factory produced M1917A1 rather than a converted M1917). Exterior paint appears to have some type of paint splatter or other issues probably from being stored in a garage, appears to have some type of possible lacquer on top of paint as well. Early WW2 era helmet. Worn condition.
Additional Notes: The US M1917A1 combat helmet nicknamed the “Kelly Helmet,” was the US Army’s standard steel helmet during the interwar years and early WW2. It was essentially an updated version of the WW1 M1917 helmet, refurbished with new liners and chinstraps, and later manufactured anew by McCord Radiator Company in the late 1930s.
