United States Fore & Aft Hat marker marked on interior: The M.C. Lilly Co, Manufacturers of Military and Society Goods, Columbus, Ohio. A lot of heavy wear to sweatband which is damaged and coming loose in several areas. Feathers also have damage and a lot of wear as well. Size marked 7 on interior label. Most likely late 1800s or early 1900s era. Overall, very heavily worn condition.

Additional Notes: The Fore & Aft Hat, often referred to as a cocked hat, was a formal headpiece worn by U.S. military officers, particularly in the Navy, during the 19th and early 20th centuries. These type hats were also utilized many times by American Masonic Organizations. These hats were part of full dress or special full dress uniforms, typically reserved for ceremonial occasions like inspections, parades, or official visits.
