WW2 German Spanish Cross with Swords in Silver. Marker marked on back CEJ 900 for the marker of CE Juncker and silver content of 800 silver. Worn condition.

 

Additional Notes: The Spanish Cross with Swords in Silver is a distinguished award of WW2 Germany given to German troops who participated in the Spanish Civil War on the Nationalist side. This award was instituted in April of 1939, to recognize German Forces who served in the Spanish Civil War (July 1936- March 1939). The Spanish Cross came in four classes: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Gold with Diamonds. The Silver Cross with Swords was awarded to German Army Soldiers and Luftwaffe personnel who took part in decisive battles or had considerable fighting experience. There were 8,304 silver crosses with swords awarded. The Gold Cross with Swords was awarded to those who showed great merit in combat or exceptional leadership. There were 1,126 gold crosses awarded. The highest award was the Gold Cross with Diamonds, which was awarded to those with the highest achievements or leadership in action.
