WW2 German Infantry Assault Badge in Silver. Massive zinc-based, silvered badge. Marker marked CW on the back under the hinge area (for the marker of Carl Wild, Hamburg). Nice finish on badge. Worn condition.
Additional Notes: The Infantry Assault Badge (Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen) was instituted in December of 1939, by Generalfeldmarschall Walther von Brauchitsch. It was awarded to soldiers of the Waffen-SS and Wehrmacht Heer (Army) who participated in infantry assaults on the front lines. The badge was designed to recognize the bravery and combat experience of infantry soldiers who engaged in direct combat operations.
