Additional Notes: The Chinese Nationalist Army, also known as the National Revolutionary Army (NRA), played a crucial role in the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945). The NRA was formed by the Kuomintang (KMT) in 1924 and was initially supported by the Soviet Union. It was tasked with unifying China and fighting against the Japanese invasion. The NRA’s military strategy included the use of guerrilla warfare and cooperation with Allied forces, such as the United States and the British. Despite the ongoing Chinese civil war between Nationalists and Communists, the NRA and the Communist forces formed the Eighth Route Army and the New Fourth Army, nominally joining forces to fight against Japanese aggression. The NRA’s military efforts were significant in tying up Japanese forces and contributing to the overall Allied war effort. After the war, the conflict between the Nationalists and the Communists resumed, eventually leading to the victory of the Chinese Communist Party and the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949.
