The “SL” denotes that this casing was made in St. Louis Ordnance Plant in St. Louis, Missouri, by the US Cartridge Company (a division of Western Cartridge Company).  The number “43” on the head stamp shows that this .50 caliber round was produced in 1943. Worn condition.
