Additional Notes: WW2 German Sonderführer shoulder straps in the German Wehrmacht were distinctive insignia used to identify specialists and technical experts during WW2. They combined elements of officer-style boards with unique piping and/or cyphers to mark their non-standard roles. The Sonderführer (Special leader) was a unique category in the Wehrmacht, introduced in 1937. These individuals were not career officers but specialists (such as linguists, engineers, doctors, or administrators) appointed to positions requiring expertise.
