Additional Notes: The Combat Knife MIL-K-20277 served as the U.S. military’s standardized fighting and utility blade during the early Vietnam War era. The design continued the proven WW2 Mk 2 lineage but shifted into Cold War production, with manufacturers such as Utica and Camillus producing updated versions in the early 1960s. Troops carried the knife for field tasks, close‑quarters defense, and general utility work across Southeast Asia. Its 7‑inch carbon‑steel clip‑point blade, stacked‑leather handle, and leather scabbard made it durable, easy to maintain, and familiar to service members who had trained with Mk 2‑pattern knives. Soldiers, sailors, Marines, and aviators relied on the MIL‑K‑20277 as a dependable, all‑purpose tool in jungle environments where corrosion, humidity, and constant field use tested equipment relentlessly.

The US Camillus NY markings on the blade and the straight cross guard indicate that this variation was manufactured somewhere between 1962 and 1974.
