WW2 US Navy Mark 2 Fighting Utility Knife. Robeson Shuredge Mark 2, this one is guard stamped “R.C.C.” on one end and “U.S.N. MK2” on other end of the guard. The guard is slightly bent towards the pommel (can be found with both straight guards and bent guards, this one is a bent guard). This is the variation with a pinned pommel and the last variation manufactured during WW2. Approximately 7-inch blade with quite a bit of wear. This knife has the BM Co plastic scabbard which is proper for the RCC guard stamped knifes (Nord-6581 which dates to about June of 1944). Worn condition knife and scabbard.
Additional Notes: The WW2 US Navy Mark 2 Fighting Utility Knife is a legendary blade with a rich military history. It was developed in 1942 as a response to the inadequacies of WWI era trench knives. It was officially adopted by the U.S. Marine Corps in November of 1942, and later by the U.S. Navy as the Mark 2 Utility Knife. It was designed to serve both as a combat weapon and a general-purpose utility tool with ability to cut wires, open crates, and more. The US Navy Mark 2 knives were made by Robeson, Pal, Camillus, and Ka-bar.
There are five variations of the Roberson Shuredge Mark 2. This is the 5th variation with the pinned pommel and guard mark.
