WW2 Italian Pugnale M39 Fighting Knife . DW143

$360.00

WW2 Italian Army M39 Fighting Knife. This is the early 3 rivet version. Better condition than you typically see, wood handle is decent condition and 3 steel rivets with blacken steel washers still in place. The large 8 inch blade still in good overall condition. The scabbard is still in nice condition as well (typically, these are dented a bit), and the swivel belt loop still functions fine. Worn condition.

Additional Notes: The M39 Fighting Knife, also known as the Pugnale M1939, was a combat dagger issued to Italian troops during WW2. It was primarily used by paratroopers, sapper units, and other assault troops. The design was influenced by the Austrian Sturmesser Model 1917, which had been widely used by Italian forces between the wars. The knife was typically issued to assault troops, but later in the war, it was also used by Camice Nere battalions, the Navy’s S. Marco regiment, and other military branches. Some photos show Italian SS, Decima MAS, and paratroopers proudly carrying the M39 at their belts.
