1819 United States Coronet Liberty Head Large Cent. Matron Head. Very heavily worn condition.
Additional Notes: The Coronet Liberty Head Large Cent (Matron Head: 1816-1839). The US Coronet Liberty Head Large Cent, minted from 1816 to 1857, is a significant piece of American numismatics. It was the final large cent series design before the smaller Flying Eagle Cent was introduced. The coin features a left-facing Liberty wearing a coronet inscribed with “LIBERTY” on the obverse and a simple wreath encircling “ONE CENT” on the reverse. The series underwent several design modifications, resulting in three distinct subtypes: Matron Head (1816-1839), Modified Matron Head (1835-1839), and Braided Hair (1840-1857).
