United States Model 1873 Socket Bayonet with Scabbard. The blade and socket are blued with quite a bit of wear to the bluing, bayonet is approximately 21 inches overall length with a 3-inch socket and 18-inch blade. “U.S.” marked on blade. Heavily worn condition with surface corrosion and rust.
Additional Notes: The standard issue socket bayonet for the Model 1873 .45‑70 Trapdoor rifle, used through the Indian Wars era. It’s the classic triangular‑blade U.S. bayonet that remained in service (with minor variations) into the 1880s.
