WW2 USMC Raider Stiletto . DWU1150

United States Marine Corps (USMC) Raider Stiletto WW2. Blade in heavily worn condition with very light USMC scroll on one side of the blade and very hard to make out and very light Camillus maker mark in ricasso area, also, blade appears to have a slight bend that you see on a lot of these carried knives due to the way they were carried and hung from the waist. The zinc-alloy checkered grip handle actually in decent condition without the typical cracking and breaking you find on many of the USMC raider knives. Sheath in heavily worn and damaged condition, with top portion missing. Blade length approximately 6 7/8 inches. Overall, a very hard to find well used USMC stiletto with decent handle, however, very heavily worn condition blade and sheath with damage to hanging portion of sheath. The Marine Raider Stiletto is one of the rarest and most sought-after US combat knives from WW2.

Additional Notes: The U.S. Marine Raider Stiletto was a specialized combat knife issued primarily to the elite Marine Raiders and the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion during WW2. Inspired by the British Fairbairn–Sykes fighting knife, it featured a slender, double-edged blade optimized for thrusting rather than utility work. Designed in 1942 by Lt. Col. Clifford H. Shuey, the knife had a narrow steel blade, a checkered metal grip for a secure hold, and a leather sheath for quick access. Its purpose was singular—close-quarters combat—making it less suited for general field tasks like cutting rope or opening crates. While praised for its effectiveness in silent attacks, the stiletto’s fragility and limited versatility led many Marines to replace it with more robust utility knives later in the war. Today, it remains a symbol of Raider heritage and a sought-after collectible among military historians.
