Additional Notes: The Mother’s Cross (Mutterkreuz) was a civilian decoration instituted in WW2 Germany to reward women who bore and raised multiple children in service of the state’s population policy. Introduced in 1938, it was awarded in three classes based on the number of children born and raised to adulthood. The award was meant to be worn around the neck and was created in 1938. The design consisted of widening blue enamel arms with a white border, a circle with a white background and a black swaz, and the words “Der Deutschmen Mutter” around the perimeter. The cross was issued in three classes, each determined by the number of children born and raised to adulthood
