WW2 German Gold Wound Badge. Tombak (brass-alloy) based badge with a gilt finish. Not marker marked, however, attributed to the marker of Hauptmünzamt Wien (the Vienna Mint). Round pin, also, this one is the actual gold wound badge pictured in the excellent new WW2 German Wound Badge book by Thomas Durante (pages 386 and 387 described as the “No Dots” Square U hinge variation). Nice gold wound back that is book pictured.
Additional Notes: The Gold Wound Badge (Verwundetenabzeichen in Gold) was a prestigious German military decoration awarded during WW2 to soldiers who were wounded five or more times in combat.
