Additional Notes:  The Confederate States of America 10 cent stamp featuring Jefferson Davis is a fascinating relic from the Civil War era, steeped in both historical and philatelic significance. Issued in 1863, this stamp was printed in blue ink on soft paper. It features a profile of Jefferson Davis, the President of the Confederacy. The stamp was engraved by John Archer, who had been recruited from the American Bank Note Company to improve the South’s stamp quality. Earlier versions resembled Abraham Lincoln too closely, prompting a redesign that better reflected Davis’s likeness.
