United States Purple Heart Medal in case. Stitched ribbon slot broach type pin attachment system. Officially named on back to: DANIEL D. CAMERON, JR. He was a VMI 1942 graduate from Wilmington NC. Landed at Omaha Beach on June 8, 1944 (D-Day+3). Commanded an automatic weapons battery B of the 430th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion. 3-year Captain. Comes with some brief history and information. Also, comes with single ribbon bar and enamel lapel device. 1940s (ww2) era. Worn condition.
Additional Notes: The Purple Heart medal is awarded in the name of the President of the United States to any member of the Armed Forces of the United States who, while serving with one of the U.S. Armed Services after April of 1917, has been wounded or killed. With its forerunner, the Badge of Military Merit, which took the form of a heart made of purple cloth, the Purple Heart is the oldest military award still given to U.S. military members.
