WW2 German Knights Cross Formal Certificate Mappe (Holder). Empty holder, no document. The mappe has an Inlayed gold eagle that displays nicely. Interior back cover of the mappe is manufacturer marked “Frieda Thiersch”. The red cord to secure the document is still present. Size approximately 18 inches x 13 1/4 inches. Very worn condition and very rare item that does not come on the market that often.

Additional Notes: Frieda Thiersch (1889-1947) was a German bookbinder renowned for her work and hand made the formal Knights Cross Mappes.
