Japanese Wakizashi. 13 inch blade with two character signature on nakago (tang). Tsuka (Handle/Hilt) with wrap still in good shape, ray skin cover wood core with nice pair of menuki. Good set of blacken with gold highlights Fuchi fitting at opening end of tsuka (hilt/handle) and kashira (end cap). Two piece habaki (blade collar). Nice looking tsuba (handguard). Blade has a lot of wear and issues (nicks, graying, opening, etc.). Black lacquered saya (wooden scabbard) with a lot of issues as well (cracking, splits, and parts of an old paper tag glued to saya). Very worn and rough condition. I believe this is Edo period (1603-1867).
Additional Notes: Wakizashi blades are typically between 12 inches to 24 inches or (30-60cm) or (between 1 and 2 shaku).
