Additional Notes: The WW2 German Black Wound Badge was awarded to military personnel who were wounded once or twice by hostile action, including air raids. Instituted on September of 1939, it was part of a series of wound badges that also included silver and gold versions for more severe injuries. The ww2 German black wound badge was typically made from a die-stamped steel or tombak (brass-alloy) base, which was then black enamel painted and lacquered. It was worn on the lower left breast of the uniform, below other awards.
