Additional Notes: The WW1 German Silver Cut-out Wound Badge, also known as the Verwundetenabzeichen, was a military decoration awarded to soldiers of the German Army who were wounded during WW1. The badge was established in March of 1918, by Prussian King Wilhelm II. It came in three classes: Black for one or two wounds, Silver for three or four wounds, and Gold for five or more wounds or severe injuries. The WW1 German Cut-out Wound Badge is a die-struck, hollow-back badge with a silver wash. It features an embossed, high-relief profile of an M16 pattern helmet superimposed over crossed swords on a pebbled base, encompassed by an embossed oval laurel leaf wreath. The badge was worn on the lower left breast of the uniform or tunic.
