United States WW2 Telescope Elbow M17 dated 1942. Plaque on side of telescope marked: Telescope, Elbow M17 No. 36866 Minneapolis-Honeywell Reg. Co. 1942. Size approximately 11 1/2 inches x 5 3/4 inches. Good optics. Worn condition.

 

Additional Notes: The M17 Elbow Telescope is a fascinating piece of U.S. military optics from World War II. It was primarily used as a direct fire sighting instrument for artillery, notably the 155mm M1917 Howitzer, and also integrated into M5, M7, and M10 gun director systems for anti-aircraft fire control. Selectable filters (red, clear, neutral, amber) for day/night use.
