US WW2 Army Mess Can Dated 1944 . FLU1789

U.S. WW2 Army Mess Kit/Can. Mess can is two parts with the lid or top that can be used as a plate and a pan with foldout handle that also serves to close the mess kit. The handle is marker marked U.S. and dated 1944. Height approximately 2 1/4 inches. Magnet sticks to the two-section plate section (most likely stainless steel), however, does not stick to the lower pan section (which is probably aluminum) however, does stick to the pan handle (which appears to be steel). The Mess/Meat can is in worn and used condition consistent with age.
