WW2 German SS Chained Service Dagger Model 1936 Type C (Type I). Dagger blade is not marker which is proper for chained SS daggers. The blade is acid etched “Meine Ehre heist Treue” (My Glory is Fidelity) motto on the blade. You can still make out portions of the cross graining on blade as well, however, does have some wear, spotting, and typical in-and-out marks, overall, decent condition blade. The anodized (blackened) scabbard is in decent shape with some wear and displays well and all screws still in place. This scabbard is the variation that only has one screw holding the center band as found sometimes on Type C scabbards. The chain is the Type C variation that is nickel-plated steel with open Wotan’s knot with the partial “D.R.G.M.” visible on the clip below, this one you can barely make out only a small portion of one of the letters. Chain has the straight upper link and the skull with the large nasal opening. This chain type is actually fairly hard-to-find and you do not see a lot of these Type C chains. The chain also has the proper machine applied stamped SS proof mark on the back of one of the chain links. The clip also functional as well. The nickel upper and lower grip fittings are in good condition. The black ebony grip in decent condition and has a lacquer type finish to the grip and is firmly in place and shows a nice overall age. The grip eagle is in nice condition and the roundel enamel is in good condition as well. Overall, a hard-to-find Type-C (Type I) Chained SS Dagger that displays well.
