WW2 German Early SS Chained Service Dagger Model 1936 Type B1 (Type II). Dagger blade is not marker which is proper for chained SS daggers. The blade is acid etched “Meine Ehre heist Treue” (My Glory is Fidelity) motto on the blade. The blade does have a lot of graying, spotting, and the typical in-and-out marks, overall, decent condition blade. The black painted scabbard has a lot of heavy wear to the paint, however, all screws still in place, dented scabbard ball and often seen on these. Early center scabbard band with only one screw holding the center band with the blackened background. The chain is the Type B1 variation that is early Neusilber with closed Wotan’s knot. Chain has the tapered upper link and the skulls with high level of detail and nice blackened background to the links. The chain also has the manually applied stamped SS proof mark on the back of one of the chain links. Also, has belt loop as well attached. The clip also functional. The neusilber upper and lower grip fittings are in good condition. The black ebony grip does have a lot of wear and damage with chipping on the back in each of the corners; however, it is still firmly in place and shows a nice overall age. The grip eagle is in nice condition and the roundel enamel is in good condition as well. Overall, a decent condition early Type 1B Chained SS Dagger with the neusilber chain.
