United States Civil War Cavalry Sword. This is an M40 Wrist-Breaker which is maker marked “Horstmann Co. Phil.” The blade is about 36 inches long and is in very heavily worn condition with graying, spotting, scratches, and edge nicks. The leather on the handle is very heavily worn with some wood showing through it, but the wire wrap is still intact. This sword has it’s metal two ring scabbard. Very heavily worn condition.
