US G.A.R. Cane to a Derby CT veteran . CWR539

U.S. GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) Walking Cane to a Derby CT veteran. The top of the cane is silver made by the Derby Silver Company with naming (hard to make out the engraving on the silver top and edge). I believe this one is late 1800s to early 1900s cane. Overall good condition.

Additional Notes: The Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) was a fraternal organization composed of veterans of the Union Army (U.S. Army), Union Navy (U.S. Navy), Marines and the U.S. Revenue Cutter Service who served in the American Civil War. It was founded in 1866 in Springfield, Illinois, and grew to include hundreds of Posts (local community units) across the nation (mostly  in the North, however, also a few in the South and West of the U.S.).
