US Civil War Token with Documents 1862 . Coincw56

U.S. Civil War Token with Civil War Era documents. One document appears to be a U.S. Army Pay Department document Pay Receipt 1862. The other document appears to be a United States Military Telegraph from May 1862. Also, has Civil War era I.O.U. token. Group came together and leaving as one group.

Additional Notes: Civil War Tokens appeared in the early 1860s because there were severe shortages of U.S. government-issued coins.  Regular cents of that era were strongly hoarded, so private individuals started making small copper coins to meet the demands of local commerce. The government caught up eventually, and Civil War Tokens disappeared after supply caught up. These interesting Civil war token have a nice collector following today and are a nice character item from the U.S. Civil War.
