Vintage pre-owned condition with surface scuffs, handling wear, age-related discoloration, and evidence of previous use inside the bowl. There is some chipping along the top area of the carved turban and additional chipping/wear around the area where the mouthpiece connects to the bowl. The mouthpiece also shows wear at the tip. Please review all photos carefully for the exact condition and extent of wear.

Meerschaum, a lightweight and porous mineral also known as sepiolite, has been used for intricately carved pipes for centuries. Figural meerschaum carving became particularly prominent in Europe during the 19th century, with Vienna developing into an important production center using material imported from the Ottoman region. Turbaned and Ottoman-inspired portraits became recurring subjects for these highly decorative pipes.
